![]() The Bronze uses the same one-inch aluminum-dome tweeter used in the Stratus Gold and Silver systems. It also uses a new pair of 6-1/2-inch woofers with felted cones and rubber surrounds. These two drivers operate in a "two-and-a-half-way" design that uses both of them for low frequencies and only one for mid-frequencies. This gives maximum bass impact in a slim cabinet that is easy to give houseroom, and at the same time it prevents the midrange directivity that could occur if both bass drivers also went up into the mid-frequencies. It is an effective, best-of-both-worlds design. The Bronze's floorstanding tower enclosure is an elegant and unobtrusive presence in a room. It's a little smaller and slimmer than the Stratus Silver, and has the same ability to slip into and compliment a very wide range of decor. How does the Bronze do what it does for its affordable price? The answer is a combination of the high-value-for-cost of its two bass drivers and our use of high-quality vinyl-laminate finishes rather than expensive wood veneers. The laminates we use were carefully chosen and definitely look convincing in a room setting. Paul Barton calls the Stratus Bronze our way of keeping performance in the clouds and bringing price down to earth. You will hear what that means when you audition the Bronze at a PSB dealer.
