Platinum Solutions Creating a dedicated subwoofer qualified to complement the PSB Platinum Series was a true challenge. The SubSonic 10 produces ultra-deep bass of a quantity and quality that will positively amaze you. Its paired 12-inch drivers produce extraordinary output and extension, indeed beyond the limits of human perception. In some cases this is bass that you feel rather than hear. The SubSonic 10 is powered by a “smart-supply” Class H amplifier design delivering no less than 500 watts, with an almost alarming 1500 watts of dynamic peak power reserves. PSB’s “smart bass” monitoring system ensures freedom from distortion, even at room-shaking levels. Simply brilliant. The Tri-mode Surround Speaker Placement™ design allows the Platinum S2 to be used in either a bipole or dipole mode. In addition it can be wired for use in 6.1 and 7.1 surround systems so that the forward-facing drivers supply the side channel sound, while the rear facing drivers supply the rear-center surround channels. This allows for true 6.1 or 7.1 performance while using only five speakers.
